THE STORY BEHIND FERNWOOD DESIGN

We see architecture and design as vehicles for improving people's lives. No matter the scale of the project, we work hard to ensure each solution we devise keeps the individual firmly at the center.

Jorge E. Peña grew up in Northern Mexico, and moved New York City to study architecture at Pratt Institute. He completed his Masters Degree in Architecture at The Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Returning to Manhattan after graduate school, Jorge
worked as Project Manager for architecture company that focused on
new development, as well as started his woodworking company, WoodLab NYC. In 2013 he founded his Architecture and Design Lab, Fernwood Designs. Growing from 2013, Fernwood Design offers a full range of design, building and engineering services that can be applied to residential, commercial, new development, restaurants, commissary kitchens, etc.

In the highly regulated world of building and developing in New York City, Jorge offers his clients twenty-years of design expertise, knowledge and building code analysis to any project he works on. Fernwood Design is able to expedite projects succinctly as a direct
result of Jorge’s awareness of New York City’s building code.

Founded in 2013, we have developed a reputation for excellence that reaches much further than just our home base in New York. In addition to designing homes and workspaces, we are fascinated by projects that have a green aspect to them and focus on providing sustainable and creative structural solutions to complicated problems.
